Kata Hay, a singer who gained fame on the popular television talent competition The Voice, is now facing serious legal issues after being arrested on a warrant for vehicular homicide.
Arrest and Extradition Process
Authorities took Hay into custody early on Wednesday morning in Osage County, Oklahoma. The arrest was carried out by a deputy from the Osage County Sheriff’s Office at a local residence. This action was based on an active warrant issued from Davidson County, Tennessee.
The Goodlettsville Police Department in Tennessee confirmed the warrant. Hay, whose legal name is Kata Huddleston, is currently being held at the Osage County Jail in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. She is scheduled to appear before a district court judge on Monday to sign a waiver of extradition, which would allow her to be sent back to Tennessee to face the charges.
Details of the Charges and Past Offences
Court documents reveal that the charges stem from an incident dated December 10. Huddleston is accused of driving under the influence (DUI), which is listed as her second such offence. She also faces charges for leaving the scene of an accident that caused property damage estimated at over $1,500 and for driving with an open container of alcohol.
This is not the first time the former singer has been in trouble with the law. In 2022, she served several months in jail after pleading guilty to making sexual advances toward a 16-year-old boy when she was 35 years old. The victim's mother had accused her of forcing her tongue into the boy's mouth and touching him inappropriately. While Huddleston disputed some details, she could not prove her claims.
Rise to Fame and Current Situation
Kata Hay rose to national prominence in 2016 when she competed on The Voice, eventually reaching the show's top 20. Her journey from a television talent show to multiple arrests marks a dramatic fall from grace.
As of the latest reports, efforts to reach Hay or her representatives for comment have been unsuccessful. The case continues to develop as she awaits her court appearance and potential extradition to Tennessee.
