In a brazen assault that has sent shockwaves through the community, unidentified gunmen have killed a police inspector and two civilians during an attack on a patrol team in Nasarawa State.
Details of the Deadly Ambush
The tragic incident occurred on Monday, December 14, 2025, at about 6:30 p.m. The attack took place along the Ajimaka Village road, which leads to Rukubi town in Doma Local Government Area.
According to police sources, the patrol team was attached to Operation Restore Peace and was led by Inspector Jampi Mbursa. The team, which included members of a local vigilante group, was on a routine patrol when they were suddenly ambushed by the armed assailants.
Victims and Stolen Firearm
The attackers opened fire, fatally shooting Inspector Jampi Mbursa. Two other individuals from Ajimaka Village were also killed in the assault. They have been identified as Julius Igbogh and his son, Raphael Julius.
In a significant escalation, the gunmen reportedly seized the fallen inspector's service weapon before fleeing the scene. The stolen item was an AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition.
Aftermath and Police Response
The victims were rushed to the Rukubi General Hospital for urgent medical attention. Unfortunately, medical personnel at the facility confirmed all three men dead upon arrival. Their remains have been deposited at the hospital's mortuary.
The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the attack. A spokesperson stated that efforts are intensifying to track down the perpetrators, recover the stolen firearm, and bring those responsible to justice.
This violent incident highlights the persistent security challenges in parts of the state and has raised concerns about the safety of both security personnel and civilians in the area.
