Gunmen Steal Benue Lawmaker's Official Car in Abuja

Gunmen have reportedly snatched the official car of Hon. Sesoo Gboko, the member representing Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. The incident occurred in the Gudu area of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Details of the Incident

According to a statement issued by the lawmaker's Senior Legislative Aide, Bem Adzaagee, the vehicle was taken at gunpoint by unidentified armed men. The driver had parked the car at a public car park in Gudu and was heading into a building when the assailants confronted him.

"The gunmen compelled the Honourable Member's driver to surrender the vehicle to them as he parked at the car park of a public place in the Gudu area of the Federal Capital Territory and was making his way into the premises," the statement read.

The driver had just returned from an errand and was at the location to pick up the lawmaker, who was engaged in meetings with some individuals at the time.

No Injuries Reported

Adzaagee confirmed that neither the driver nor any other person present at the scene sustained any injuries during the unfortunate event. He praised the quick response of security agencies, noting that they have already commenced efforts to track down the stolen vehicle.

"The swift action of the security operatives is commendable, and we are hopeful that the car will be recovered soon," the aide added.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of public officials and their assets in the nation's capital. Further updates are expected as investigations continue.
