Discovery of Headless Body in Ondo
Residents of Ondo town were shocked on Tuesday when the body of an unidentified woman was found with her head severed along Barracks Road, near the GRA Roundabout. The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident and said an investigation has begun.
Police Response and Preliminary Findings
DSP Jimoh Abayomi, the Public Relations Officer of the Ondo Police Command, stated that the police recovered the body after receiving a distress call from residents in the area. According to Abayomi, preliminary observations revealed that several parts of the body had been mutilated beyond the decapitation.
“Upon arrival, the officers discovered the headless body of a female victim. Preliminary observations revealed that several parts of the body had been mutilated. Investigations have commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, identify the deceased, apprehend those responsible and establish the motive behind the gruesome act,” Abayomi said.
Assurance to the Public
The police spokesperson assured residents that the command is fully committed to uncovering those behind the crime and bringing them to justice. He urged anyone with information to come forward and assist the investigation.
As of now, the identity of the victim remains unknown, and no arrests have been made. The police are appealing to the public for any leads that could help solve the case.
