Operatives of the Kano State Hisbah Board have made a significant interception, seizing a consignment of alcoholic beverages allegedly transported from Lagos. The incident underscores the ongoing enforcement of the state's religious laws.

The interception was carried out on Monday, December 15, 2025, following specific intelligence reports received by the board. Officials were alerted that the prohibited goods were en route from Lagos to Kano.
Acting swiftly on this tip-off, personnel from the Fagge patrol command located and stopped the suspected vehicle. Their operation led to the successful confiscation of the illicit shipment.
Details of the Seizure and Arrest
Deputy Commander General of the Hisbah Board, Mujahideen Aminuddeen, who confirmed the operation in a statement on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, provided further details. Investigations revealed that the consignment was sent by a woman based in Lagos and was destined for Kano.
During the operation, the authorities recovered approximately 13 packs containing assorted alcoholic drinks. The driver of the vehicle was immediately taken into custody to aid the investigation.
"The driver of the vehicle has been arrested to assist ongoing investigations, while efforts are underway to apprehend the woman who allegedly sent the alcohol," Aminuddeen stated.
