A suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated along the Bagega-Anka road in Zamfara State, targeting a commercial vehicle and resulting in multiple casualties.

Casualties and Response

Eyewitnesses reported that the death toll reached nine persons, with striking dismemberment. However, the State Police Command officially confirmed that six individuals were killed, while six others sustained various degrees of injury. The injured were evacuated to a hospital for medical attention and are currently receiving emergency treatment.

Security Situation

Locals said that the Bagega-Anka road has been under a state of virtual siege since a bandit attack on a military base near Bagega village last week. The subsequent intensity of fighting between security forces and armed groups has created a high-tension environment, forcing villagers to rely on military escorts for essential travel to ensure their safety from persistent threats.
