A delegation from the Council of Imams (Zawiyya Branch), led by renowned Islamic scholar Khalifa Ibrahim Sheik Balarabe, has paid a condolence visit to the Zamfara State Police Command in Gusau following the recent bomb attack that claimed the lives of police officers in the line of duty.
Condolence Visit and Prayers
The delegation visited the Command headquarters to sympathise with its leadership and the families of the deceased officers over the tragic incident. The Imams were received by the Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Muhammad Bello, alongside members of the Command’s management team. During the visit, Khalifa Balarabe led special prayers (Du’a) for the repose of the souls of the fallen officers and comfort for their families.
Condemnation of the Attack
He strongly condemned the attack, describing the killing of innocent people as an act contrary to the teachings of Islam, which promote peace, justice, brotherhood, and the sanctity of human life. The Council of Imams expressed heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families and urged them to remain steadfast in faith during the difficult period.
Support for Security Agencies
The delegation also commended officers and men of the Zamfara State Police Command for their sacrifices and unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the state. Khalifa Balarabe further called on residents and religious institutions in Zamfara State to continue supporting security agencies by promoting peace, remaining vigilant, and promptly reporting suspicious activities within their communities.
Police Commissioner's Response
In his remarks, Commissioner of Police Ahmad Muhammad Bello expressed appreciation to the Council of Imams for the visit, prayers, and words of encouragement. He noted that the moral and spiritual support of religious leaders remains invaluable, particularly during moments of grief and national loss. “The prayers and solidarity of our revered religious leaders strengthen our resolve and send a clear message that our communities stand united against violence and criminality,” he said.
The commissioner assured the delegation that the Command remained committed to bringing the perpetrators of the attack to justice. “We remain committed to bringing those responsible for this heinous act to justice,” Bello stated. He further disclosed that the Command was intensifying efforts to strengthen security across the state and enhance the protection of places of worship, markets, residential communities, and other public spaces.
