Jigawa Police Arrest Robbers, Cattle Rustlers

The Jigawa State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Haruna A. Yahaya, has achieved significant successes in its ongoing crackdown on criminal elements threatening peace and security in the state. The Command, in its sustained effort to protect lives and property, announced the arrest of several suspects involved in criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, armed robbery, theft, and animal rustling across various parts of the state.

Arrests on May 22, 2026

On May 22, 2026, operatives from the State Intelligence Department apprehended three suspects: Musa (alias Kala), 45, of Fateka Settlement; Manu Abdullahi, 30, of Mashin Bura Village, Malam Madori LGA; and Yusuf Ibrahim, 35, of Marke Village, Kaugama LGA. These individuals are allegedly linked to a series of armed robbery operations within the Hadejia Emirate. During a search, a fabricated AK-47 rifle was reportedly recovered from the premises of one of the suspects. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate.

Foiled Kidnapping Plot on May 23, 2026

On May 23, 2026, the Command foiled a kidnapping plot involving Adamu Gari, 55, of Zabo Kafi Village, Kafin Hausa LGA, and Abdullahi Adamu, 40, of Fatiske Village, Jama’are LGA in Bauchi State. The suspects were arrested before the alleged abduction could be carried out and are currently assisting investigators with useful information.

Other Arrests and Recoveries

On the same day, operatives from the Gwaram Division arrested two suspects, Mustapha Badamasi, 30, of Innakawa Village, and Khalid Zubairu, 20, of Kofar Kuka, Gwaram LGA, in connection with the theft of two sheep. The stolen animals and a Bajaj motorcycle allegedly used in the operation were recovered.

Similarly, on May 23, 2026, at approximately 5:24 a.m., police operatives in Taura Division arrested two suspected animal rustlers, Sulaiman Isa, 18, and Ibrahim Muhammad, 30, both of Yanyanga Settlement. Four sheep were recovered during the operation, and the suspects have since been charged to court.

Operations on May 26-29, 2026

On May 26, 2026, operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested members of a suspected armed robbery gang that had mounted an illegal roadblock along the Ringim–Chaichai Road. One suspect was arrested at the scene, while two others were later apprehended during follow-up operations.

On May 27, 2026, police, working alongside vigilante groups, recovered a Boxer motorcycle that had been stolen from its owner. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspects involved.

On May 29, 2026, another Boxer motorcycle was recovered at Laraba Village in Dutse LGA after suspected criminals abandoned it and fled upon sighting security operatives. Preliminary investigations suggest the motorcycle was intended for use in criminal activities.
