Journalist Recounts Terrifying Home Invasion by Armed Robbers

A journalist has opened up about the traumatic experience his family endured when armed robbers stormed their home early Sunday morning. Ameh Godwin was asleep with his wife, young children, and brothers when a noise woke him up in the early hours of April 26, 2026.

Night of Terror Unfolds

According to Godwin, he looked out and saw armed men jumping over the fence into his compound. He quickly woke his brothers, and they turned on the security light. The robbers then ordered them to open the door, threatening to shoot if they did not comply. One of the intruders pointed a gun through the window at Godwin's brother.

Forced Entry and Demands

When no one opened the door, the robbers attempted to force it open. During the struggle, they saw Godwin's daughter and asked her to unlock the door. Terrified, she turned to her father and said, "Daddy, are they coming to kill us?" Eventually, the robbers gained entry and demanded all the money the family had. They also took phones, laptops, and other valuables before fleeing.
