JTON Denies Bullying Qing Madi, Reaffirms Legal Commitment

JTON Entertainment Limited has strongly denied allegations of bullying singer Qing Madi, reiterating its commitment to due process in an ongoing legal dispute. The company addressed the controversy surrounding the removal of Qing Madi's 'Barely Legal' EP from streaming platforms, which occurred shortly after its release and sparked a social media backlash from the artist.

Legal Dispute Clarified

In a statement released on Friday, JTON clarified that the singer initiated the court proceedings. The company stated it only took lawful steps to protect its investment, business interests, contractual rights, and the work invested in the artist's career. JTON emphasized that the matter is not personal but a legal and commercial dispute concerning rights, obligations, and the protection of works developed during their professional relationship.

Allegations Denied

JTON dismissed claims of intimidation, bullying, or threats against the artist, calling them false and misleading. The organization stated it has not threatened Qing Madi nor authorized anyone to harass or endanger her. It expressed concern that the matter is being portrayed online as a threat to the artist's life, which it described as unfair and capable of misleading the public.

Court Ruling Misrepresentation

The company addressed the recent ruling by the High Court of Lagos State, Nigeria, cautioning against misrepresentation. JTON noted that the court did not dismiss its case but granted part of its interlocutory injunction application. The ruling restrains the artist from releasing, publishing, or performing music produced under JTON and from entering new agreements using the brand developed by JTON, pending the suit's determination.

Distribution Agreements

JTON also highlighted its recording and distribution agreements with Sony Music and Bu Vision, stating these arrangements must be respected by all parties. The company stressed that recordings falling under these agreements cannot be released or exploited outside the agreed structure without authorization. JTON's position is to ensure all parties honor existing obligations.

Commitment to Due Process

JTON reaffirmed its dedication to due process, stating that all actions taken so far and in the future will be within the law and under court supervision in Nigeria and New York. The company urged the public, media, commentators, and fans to allow the judicial process to proceed without spreading unverified claims that could prejudice the proceedings.
