Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State have successfully arrested four individuals suspected of being phone snatchers in the Dorayi Babba area of Gwale Local Government Area. The arrests were made following multiple reports of public disturbances where hoodlums were attacking innocent citizens and stealing their belongings.

Details of the Arrest Operation

According to a statement released on Friday by the command's spokesperson, Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the suspects were captured after NSCDC officers engaged the group during a targeted operation in Dorayi Babba. Abdullahi elaborated that the suspects had been specifically targeting residents, particularly during the Taraweeh prayers, using dangerous weapons to attack worshippers and snatch their phones and other valuables.

The statement quoted Abdullahi as saying, "The operatives of the outpost engaged the hoodlums and dispersed them while they were attacking innocent citizens with dangerous weapons and dispossessing them of their belongings, especially during Taraweeh prayers in the area."

Suspects and Recovered Items

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  • Yusuf Auwal, aged 18
  • Abubakar Abdullahi, aged 21
  • Huzaifa Isma'il Aliyu, aged 27
  • Yushau Abubakar, aged 17

All four are residents of Dorayi Babba in Gwale Local Government Area. During the arrest, items recovered from the suspects included a sharp knife and two parcels of suspected marijuana, indicating potential additional criminal activities.
