The statement came after the arrest of a 25-year-old woman, Maimunatu Idris, from Maigatari Local Government Area, Jigawa State, for allegedly cutting off her boyfriend's penis with a sharp knife.

Incident at Durbar Hotel

According to the police, the attack occurred on 27 July 2026 at Durbar Hotel in Badawa. The suspect reportedly attacked her boyfriend after learning of his intention to marry another woman. The Divisional Police Officer of Badawa Division led detectives to the scene, where Idris was apprehended and the knife was recovered as evidence.

Police Spokesperson's Response

In response to public inquiries about the victim's chances of recovery, Kiyawa said, "I'm not a doctor" but promised to provide updates on the victim's condition. The statement read, "The PPRO added that upon receipt of the information, the Divisional Police Officer, Badawa Division, led a team of detectives to the scene where the suspect was arrested and the weapon, a sharp knife, was recovered as an exhibit."
