Ejule community in Kogi State is in mourning following the death of its Chief Imam, Alhaji (Dr.) Amir Abubakar Ejiga, who passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2026. The late cleric was widely respected as an Islamic scholar and spiritual leader dedicated to promoting peace, unity, and moral discipline within the community.

Condolence Message from Alhaji Salihu Ademu

Reacting to the loss, Alhaji Salihu Ademu expressed profound sorrow, describing the deceased as a man whose life was devoted to serving Allah and humanity. In a condolence message, Ademu highlighted the late Chief Imam's significant role in fostering peaceful coexistence and strengthening communal harmony in Ejule.

According to Ademu, the cleric's sermons, counsel, and leadership positively impacted numerous lives, earning him respect across the community and beyond. “His death is not only a painful loss to his immediate family, friends, and associates, but also a monumental loss to the entire Ejule community and the Muslim Ummah at large. He was a man of wisdom, humility, peace, and spiritual guidance whose life was devoted to the service of Allah and humanity,” Ademu stated.

Ademu further noted, “The late Chief Imam stood as a symbol of unity, moral discipline, and peaceful coexistence among our people. His sermons, counsel, and leadership helped shape lives and strengthen the bond within our community. His absence will be deeply felt by all who came in contact with him.”

Call for Unity and Prayer

Ademu urged residents of Ejule and the Muslim faithful to remain united, peaceful, and prayerful during the mourning period. “Times like this call for togetherness, compassion, and mutual support. Let us honor his memory by preserving the values of peace, harmony, tolerance, and unity which he tirelessly preached throughout his lifetime,” he added.

He also prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late cleric, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and comfort his family, the Ejule community, and the Muslim Ummah.
