A family in Okene, Kogi State, has been thrown into mourning and is seeking justice after a man was allegedly poisoned to death by his first wife, who is said to have been angered by his marriage to a second wife.
Alleged Poisoning After Nine Childless Years
The incident involves Abdul Kadir Nagazi and his first wife, Favour Odoba. Reports indicate the couple had been married for nine years without having children. This reportedly led Abdul to take a second wife, who recently gave birth to a baby boy.
The situation took a tragic turn last Saturday. Favour allegedly invited her husband to spend the night with her. Shortly after, Abdul fell critically ill and was rushed to the hospital. Medical personnel at the facility reportedly confirmed that he had been poisoned, with suspicions pointing to contaminated food and a harmful injection.
Family's Anguish and Accusations
Abdul Kadir Nagazi did not survive the alleged poisoning. During his funeral on Monday, a family member, Eng. Abdulrazak Abdulrazeez, who is the deceased's cousin, addressed the accused directly in a passionate video message.
He described Favour as a "demon in human form" and warned that she could not hide forever. "See you can run but you can never hide," Abdulrazeez stated vehemently. He also revealed that the late Abdul had invested heavily in his first wife's business, spending over N2 million to set up a large shop for her.
A Controversial Warning and Manhunt
In his emotional outburst, Abdulrazeez issued a stark warning to other men. He advised against marrying "Ebira girls who chose to start having sex or having a boyfriend at an early stage of her life," claiming it could lead to a life of regression. This statement has sparked conversations beyond the immediate crime.
Meanwhile, the primary suspect, Favour Odoba, is currently on the run. Authorities are expected to be investigating the case, while the family grieves the loss of their loved one. The community in Okene is awaiting further developments as the search for the accused continues.
