Bauchi Police Arrest 48-Year-Old Man for Alleged Sodomy of Teenage Boy
The Bauchi State Police Command has made a significant arrest in a disturbing case of alleged sexual assault. A 48-year-old man has been taken into custody for reportedly sodomizing a 15-year-old boy in the Burra community, located within Ningi Local Government Area of the state.
Police Statement Details the Alleged Crime
According to the official police statement released on Saturday, March 7, 2026, the spokesperson for the command, SP Nafiu Habib, confirmed the arrest. The suspect was detained on charges of committing an unnatural offense, specifically sodomy, against the minor.
The incident reportedly occurred on February 17, 2026, around 8:00 PM. The police statement reveals that the suspect, identified as Bala Mato, allegedly deceived the teenage victim by luring him into a room where the sexual assault took place.
Formal Complaint and Medical Examination
The case came to light when Danalami Umar, a 45-year-old resident of Bakin Kasuwa in Burra, filed a formal report at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Burra on February 25, 2026. Umar informed the authorities about the alleged assault on the 15-year-old teenager.
Following the report, police swiftly moved to arrest the suspect. The victim was immediately taken to General Hospital Burra for a comprehensive medical examination to document any evidence and assess his physical condition.
