Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the arrest during a parade of the suspect in Yola on Friday, August 7, 2026. He stated that the case came to light after a community member reported the matter to police operatives, prompting an investigation that led to Sinamai's arrest.
Nguroje explained that preliminary findings pointed to Sinamai as the person responsible for his father's death. Investigators believe the suspect threw the body into the well in a deliberate attempt to hide evidence of the crime.

According to Nguroje, "The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested one Peter Sinamai, 30 years, a resident of Sangere, Gombi LGA, in connection with the alleged killing of his biological father and the dumping of the corpse in a well." He added, "Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly killed his father and disposed of the body in a well within their community."
The corpse has since been retrieved from the well and taken to a mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Sinamai is expected to face charges in court once investigations are complete.
