Man Arrested for Killing Girlfriend Over Infidelity in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested 30-year-old Richard Emmanuel for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Caroline Sunday, following an accusation of infidelity. The incident occurred on Saturday, July 11, at Abraham Street in the Eneka community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Altercation Turns Deadly

According to neighbors, the couple engaged in a heated argument that escalated into a physical fight after the suspect confronted the deceased about alleged cheating. During the altercation, the suspect pushed the deceased, causing her to hit her head against the sharp edge of a wall.

Neighbors' Attempt to Rescue

Neighbors who heard Caroline's cries for help rushed to the scene. They found her in a pool of blood and attempted to revive her, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The police from the Eneka Division were alerted and arrived to find the suspect already restrained by residents who prevented him from fleeing.

Victim Confirmed Dead

The police rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her body has been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and an autopsy.

Suspect in Custody

Confirming the incident, the command's spokesperson, ASP Blessing Agabe, stated that the suspect is currently detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Port Harcourt. He will be arraigned in court upon the completion of the police investigation.
