Ogun Police Apprehend Suspect in Deadly Knife Assault That Left Two Dead

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 25-year-old man, Abubakar Musa, in connection with a violent knife attack in the Olambe area. The incident, which took place on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, resulted in the tragic deaths of two individuals and left three others with severe, life-threatening injuries.

Details of the Violent Incident

According to Police Public Relations Officer Oluseyi Babaseyi, the suspect allegedly launched the assault while the victims were attempting to console him over a series of failed business ventures. In a fit of grief and rage, Musa reportedly used a knife to stab five people during the confrontation.

  • Gbadamasi Ibrahim, aged 25, and Chinedu, aged 40, both succumbed to their injuries while being transported to a medical facility.
  • Mohammed Abubakar (35), Ashiru Adamu (25), and Paul Lawrence (25) are currently in critical condition but are showing signs of improvement under intensive medical care.

Police Response and Investigation

PPRO Babaseyi stated that the suspect fled the scene immediately after committing the crime but was later tracked down and apprehended by police detectives. He is now in custody, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation and subsequent prosecution.

In response to the attack, Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni strongly condemned the violence and assured the public that justice will be served. He emphasized the importance of community vigilance, urging residents to remain alert and report any suspicious or violent behavior to the authorities promptly.
