Police have arrested a man accused of the horrific rape of a 59-year-old woman in her Brooklyn apartment. Jakhongir Sattorov, 38, was charged on Saturday, May 9, with three counts of rape, two counts of assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, and criminal mischief, according to the New York Police Department.
Details of the Attack
The incident occurred on Friday evening at around 8:30 p.m. in the victim's home on 15th Avenue and 71st Street in Bensonhurst. Police allege that Sattorov forced his way into the apartment by beating down the door and demanded sex. When the terrified victim refused, he allegedly beat her, throttled her, and carried out a sexual assault.
Victim's Condition and Response
The woman reported the attack to the NYPD at 11:15 p.m. and was subsequently taken to Lutheran Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. Law enforcement sources confirmed that the victim knew her attacker, as he was her neighbor.
Suspect's Criminal History
Sources indicate that Sattorov has at least seven prior arrests, all related to drug possession. Following the attack, police swarmed the area, with NYPD crime scene investigators, detectives, and the Special Victims Squad seen leaving the home carrying multiple evidence bags.
