The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Sirajo Ali, for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl at knifepoint in Dass Local Government Area, Bauchi State. The arrest follows a report filed by the victim's brother on July 28, 2026.
Incident Reported by Victim's Brother
According to a statement from the command's spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, the incident was reported on July 28, 2026, at about 8:30 p.m. by a 29-year-old man from Bundot, Dass LGA. The complainant alleged that his 13-year-old sister was lured into the suspect's room earlier that day at around 10:30 a.m. Once inside, Sirajo Ali brought out a knife and threatened to kill her if she shouted or told anyone, then proceeded to rape her.
Suspect Arrested, Knife Recovered
Upon receiving the complaint, detectives from the Dass Division immediately mobilized to the scene and arrested the suspect. The crime scene was visited, and the knife allegedly used in the commission of the crime was recovered as an exhibit. The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the arrest in a statement: "The Bauchi State Police Command wishes to inform the public of the arrest of a suspect in connection with an alleged case of rape and criminal threat to life involving a 13-year-old girl in Bundot Area, Dass LGA."
Case Under Investigation
The case is currently under investigation at the Dass Division. It will soon be transferred to the Gender Laboratory of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for discreet investigation and subsequent prosecution. The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has condemned the act in strong terms and reassured the public of the command's commitment to ensuring justice for victims of sexual violence. He further urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police without delay.
