The Ekiti State Amotekun Corps has apprehended a 28-year-old man for the alleged r@pe of a seven-year-old girl in Ilawe Ekiti, in a disturbing case that has shocked the local community.

Suspect Nabbed, Confesses to Heinous Crime

According to a statement issued on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, by the Head of Communications for the Ekiti Amotekun Corps, Adeleye Adewale, the suspect identified as Olapade Ifeoluwa was arrested by operatives in the Ekiti Southwest Local Government Area. The arrest followed reports of the assault on the young victim.

"Upon interrogation by the arresting officers of the Ekiti Southwest Local Government Command, the suspect confessed to the crime committed," the official statement revealed. The suspect reportedly lured the child to his apartment on Ujana Street in Ilawe Ekiti under the pretense of watching a film before carrying out the assault.

Victim's Cry for Help Leads to Rescue

The father of the minor recounted the traumatic ordeal, explaining that his daughter's cries during the incident attracted the attention of neighbours and passersby. This crowd-pulling commotion was instrumental in her immediate rescue and the subsequent identification and apprehension of the suspect.

Following his arrest, the suspect, Olapade Ifeoluwa, offered a startling explanation for his actions. He ascribed his deplorable act to "devil's work," a claim made after he was taken into custody by the Amotekun operatives.

Investigation Transferred to State Headquarters

Both the suspect and the young victim have been moved to the Ekiti State Amotekun Headquarters Command in Ado Ekiti for a comprehensive investigation. Authorities have stated that all necessary actions will be taken to ensure justice is served in this case.
