The Bauchi State Police Command has taken a man into custody following horrific allegations of sexually assaulting his own eight-year-old child. The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the community, occurred in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
Suspect Confesses to Heinous Acts
According to the police, the suspect, identified as Baffa'ji Abba, aged 28, was reported by a relative on December 31, 2024. The report stated that the previous day, December 30, 2024, around 6:30 PM, Abba lured his young daughter into a bathroom.
Police spokesperson SP Nafiu Habib revealed that the suspect forcefully assaulted the minor five separate times in a single day. The assault was reported to have occurred both vaginally and anally against the child's will.
Swift Police Response and Medical Care
Upon receiving the report, a team of detectives led by CSP Kadiri Danjuma, the Divisional Police Officer in Alkaleri, acted promptly. Their immediate actions included two critical steps:
- Visiting the scene of the crime to gather initial evidence.
- Moving the young victim to the General Hospital in Alkaleri for urgent medical examination and care.
The suspect was arrested at the scene. During subsequent interrogation, Abba willingly confessed to committing the crime, offering his admission without pressure from investigators.
Commissioner Orders Thorough Probe
The state's Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed a comprehensive investigation into the case. He has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over.
