A tragic incident has occurred in the Ogbogoro Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, where a tricycle rider, identified only as IK, allegedly beat his lover and mother of his two children to death. Following a heated argument, IK reportedly fled, leaving the woman's corpse and their children inside a tricycle.

Details of the Incident

The event took place along the CPM Street axis of Ogbogoro on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. According to a resident named Senibo, the lifeless body of the woman and two toddlers inside the tricycle drew the attention of neighbors and passersby. The older child recounted that their father had driven them out of a guest house after realizing their mother could neither stand nor speak. He then abandoned them and their mother's body in the tricycle before escaping.

Police Response

Police officers from the Ozuoba Police Division were contacted immediately. Upon arrival, they interviewed the older child, who described how her father used an object to beat their mother at a guest house where they had lodged on Monday night. The Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Blessing Agabe, confirmed that an investigation is ongoing to apprehend the suspect. She stated that police received a distress report from a passerby who noticed two children and a lifeless woman inside a blue tricycle parked by the roadside. The children are currently in the care of the deceased's sister.
