A tragic incident has occurred in Anambra State, where a middle-aged man, identified simply as Emeka, lost his life after being allegedly thrown from a four-storey building. The event took place at 17, Afubera Street, Odoakpu, near Onitsha, in the Onitsha South Local Government Area.

Details of the Incident

The incident reportedly occurred around 3 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026. According to sources, the victim was thrown from the building after being accused of stealing boxer shorts belonging to his employer, who also owns the property. Emeka worked as a site supervisor and lived on the premises, where some floors are used as a factory for producing boxer shorts.

A resident, who identified herself as Chichi, provided further details to the press. She stated that the victim was beaten and locked up for three days prior to the incident. "The victim was a site engineer and lived in the building. He supervised the factory where boxer shorts are produced. He was accused of stealing some boxer shorts, which led to his beating. After that, he was tied and locked in a room for three days," Chichi explained.

She added that residents heard a loud shout early on Friday morning. When they rushed out, they found Emeka's lifeless body on the ground. "His head was tied, suggesting he was thrown down from the fourth floor," Chichi noted.

Police Response and Investigation

The police have since evacuated the corpse and arrested several suspects, including workers from the factory. The spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident on Sunday. He stated that key suspects are in custody and investigations are underway.

"There are various accounts aiding the investigation. Some allege the victim was killed by his employers, while others claim he attempted to escape by jumping from the building after being locked in a room," the PPRO said. "The police are working with all the information to ensure justice is served. An autopsy will also be conducted to aid further findings. The case is under investigation, and suspects are in custody."
