Man Jailed for Secretly Installing Cameras to Spy on Women

A man has been sentenced to prison for secretly installing hidden cameras in the homes and workplaces of multiple women over a ten-year period in England. Jean-Pierre Francis, 33, was convicted for his invasive actions that targeted six women aged between 20 and 60.

Discovery and Investigation

The investigation began in May 2024 when a woman found a hidden camera in her bedroom. Police from Northamptonshire Police launched an inquiry and, using evidence, linked the crime to Francis. Upon seizing his devices, officers discovered hundreds of videos and images captured between 2015 and 2025 using discreet cameras.

Concealment Methods

Francis concealed cameras in everyday items such as pens, USB sticks, plugs, and even a shower gel bottle. The police release noted that the cameras were hidden in all manner of objects, demonstrating a calculated effort to invade privacy.

Charges and Sentencing

Francis faced six counts of voyeurism and pleaded guilty on March 13. On April 17, he was sentenced to three years and six months in prison. Additionally, a destruction order was issued for all devices used in the crimes, and a 10-year sexual harm prevention order was imposed. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Lead investigator Detective Constable Georgia Sampson stated: “Jean-Pierre Francis carried out sustained and deeply invasive offending, abusing everyday technology to violate the privacy of his victims in places where they should have felt safest. This was a complex and highly technical investigation, involving the meticulous examination of multiple devices spanning a decade of offending, and it ultimately exposed the true scale of his behavior.”
