A magistrate court in Owerri has ordered the remand of a 28-year-old man, Uzochukwu Ikenna Wisdom, for allegedly sharing nude videos of his female partners on social media and blackmailing them. The case was brought to light by Virgin Heart Foundation, an Owerri-based NGO, which stated that the suspect is accused of recording women during private moments and threatening to release the footage when angered.
Details of the Alleged Crimes
According to the NGO, Wisdom allegedly shared nude videos of his girlfriend of two years on Facebook and TikTok with the intent to sell them to adult websites. The police discovered numerous nude videos of other young women on his phone, indicating a pattern of digital abuse and sexual extortion. The NGO reported that the victim attempted suicide multiple times due to the blackmail.
Court Proceedings and Remand
The magistrate court in Owerri remanded Wisdom pending further investigation. The NGO, in collaboration with Sisters with the Goal Initiative, is providing support to the victim. A video of the victim recounting her ordeal has been widely shared, highlighting the severe emotional toll of such digital abuse.
