Man Stabs Twin Sister Over 40 Times and Attacks Mother in Brutal Family Assault
A shocking case of domestic violence has emerged from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, where a 25-year-old man allegedly stabbed his twin sister more than 40 times and attacked their mother, blaming them for the collapse of his Instagram relationship. The incident, which occurred on March 6, 2026, has left the family shattered and the community in disbelief.
Details of the Horrific Attack
According to police reports, the accused, identified as Hardik, launched a frenzied attack on his twin sister Himshikha inside their family home in the Buddhi Vihar Colony. The siblings, both 25 years old, had been visiting their mother Neelima in Moradabad to celebrate the Holi festival and were preparing to return to their workplace in Gurugram.
The violence unfolded when Neelima had left for her office at a health insurance company, leaving Hardik and Himshikha alone at home. At some point during the day, Hardik allegedly attacked his sister with a large kitchen knife, repeatedly stabbing her while she was on a double bed. The post-mortem report later revealed more than 40 stab wounds on Himshikha's body, indicating an extremely violent and sustained assault.
Mother Lured Home and Attacked
After attacking his sister, Hardik reportedly went to his mother's workplace and convinced her to return home under false pretenses. When Neelima entered the house, she discovered her daughter lying in a pool of blood. Her screams alerted neighbors, but before they could intervene, Hardik allegedly turned on his mother, stabbing her multiple times before fleeing the scene in a car.
Neighbors who rushed inside found both women critically injured. An ambulance was immediately called, and both victims were transported to the district hospital. Tragically, doctors declared Himshikha dead upon arrival, while Neelima, who suffered serious injuries, was admitted for treatment and remains hospitalized.
Instagram Relationship and Depression
During the investigation, police uncovered that Hardik had been in a relationship with a young woman from Pune whom he met on Instagram. The relationship, which was primarily conducted online, ended approximately seven months before the attack. According to Moradabad SP City Ranvijay Singh, Hardik appeared emotionally disturbed following the breakup.
Neelima, speaking to police from her hospital bed, described how her son's behavior had changed dramatically after the relationship ended. "He had become very short tempered," she stated. "He believed that his mother and sister were responsible for the relationship ending, and he had started getting angry over small issues."
Accused's Confession and Motive
During police questioning, Hardik confessed to the attack and explained his motives. "Conversation with a girl started on Instagram and I fell in love with her," he told investigators. "About seven months ago we broke up and I went into depression. My sister and mother tried to console me, but this time I suddenly lost my temper."
He further detailed the attack, stating: "I picked up a big knife from the kitchen, went to the room and attacked my sister multiple times while she was on the double bed. I also attacked my mother with the intention to kill her."

Police have taken Hardik into custody and are conducting further investigations into the case. The extreme violence of the attack, as documented in the post-mortem report, has shocked investigators and the local community alike.
