Police in Abia State have declared a suspect, Solomon Friday, wanted in connection with the murder of a young man identified as Chibunna, who was allegedly stabbed to death over a palm fruit dispute in Obingwa Local Government Area.

The incident occurred in Umunkiri, a community in Obingwa LGA. Chibunna, described as the only son of his parents, was allegedly attacked and stabbed, leading to his death. The motive, according to reports, was a disagreement over palm fruit.

Ogochukwu Nwaokeoma, who confirmed the incident in a Facebook post on Monday, August 17, 2026, said that following the killing, some people from Ekwereazu, the deceased's village, went to Umunkiri and burnt down a building in the village.

Nwaokeoma wrote: "The police have now reached out and confirmed that Solomon Friday is wanted." He urged the public to share information about the suspect's whereabouts, providing a contact number, 08168792581, and advising people not to confront the suspect directly.

"Please help us share this information. If you have any information about his whereabouts, kindly contact this number 08168792581 and do not confront him yourself," he added.
