Masked Gunmen Kill Politician in Rivers Hotel

Two masked gunmen have fatally shot a politician in his hotel in Rivers State. The victim, Samuel Obe Ngobe, was a politician and community mobilizer in Ebubu, Eleme Local Government Area. The incident occurred on May 22, when the assailants invaded a hotel owned by the deceased and shot him dead.

According to a statement from Ebubu youths, two armed men reportedly trailed him to his business complex, killed him, and fled the scene on a motorcycle. This has led to suspicion that the gunmen were assassins sent to murder the politician. The assailants also reportedly carted away cell phones from hotel workers to prevent them from raising an alarm.

Ebubu youths condemned the act and called for a full-scale investigation to unravel those behind the incident. They also sympathized with the family of the deceased and vowed to partner with law enforcement agencies to track down the perpetrators.
