According to reports from security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred late on Saturday, March 14, at approximately 11:00 p.m. Lance Corporal Oton Uba Eli, who is attached to the 115 Special Operations Group of the Nigerian Air Force, initially apprehended David Ebuka, a 28-year-old dispatch rider, on suspicions of possessing hard drugs. While the situation was being managed at the scene, Joseph Iche Johnson, believed to be Ebuka's superior, arrived and engaged in a confrontation with the officer.
During the ensuing argument, it is alleged that the Air Force officer discharged his firearm, resulting in Johnson sustaining fatal injuries. The victim was rushed to a military hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. His body has since been transferred to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital Mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
