The Nigerian Navy has announced the dismissal of a rating identified as Bello from service after being absent without official leave for 1,346 days.
In a statement released on Saturday, April 25, 2026, the Navy declared that Bello was found guilty of desertion. The statement read: “SMUW Bello MX14540 has been dismissed from the Nigerian Navy. The rating was found culpable of desertion from naval service after an absence without official leave for 1346 days.”
The Navy further warned the public: “Anyone who interacts with him as a naval personnel does so at their own risk.” The dismissal takes immediate effect, and Bello is no longer considered a member of the Nigerian Navy.
