Police in Ogun State Apprehend Armed Robbery Suspect Following Distress Call

The Ogun State Police Command has successfully arrested a suspected armed robber, identified as Matthew Adebisi, in connection with a violent attack on a motorcyclist in the Sabo area. The arrest was made after a prompt response to a distress call from members of the public in the Sodeke vicinity of Sabo, leading to the recovery of a stolen motorcycle and a locally-made pistol used in the crime.

Details of the Incident and Swift Police Action

According to the Command's Spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the incident occurred on April 5, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m. The police received a report that Matthew Adebisi had attacked an okada rider with a locally-made gun, rendering the victim unconscious before fleeing with his motorcycle. Upon receiving the distress call, operatives were swiftly dispatched to the scene, where they pursued and apprehended the suspect. The locally-made gun used in the attack and the stolen motorcycle were both recovered from Adebisi.

The victim was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Abeokuta, where he is currently responding to treatment. Babaseyi confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation, and the suspect will face charges in court upon the conclusion of the inquiry.
