Ogun Police Arrest Female Suspect in Stolen Mini Bus Repainting Operation

Detectives from the Omu-Ijebu Divisional Headquarters, under the Ogun State Police Command, have successfully intercepted a case of suspected vehicle theft and illegal repainting, leading to the arrest of a 22-year-old female suspect, Azeez Khadijat. Acting on credible intelligence, the police foiled the operation in a bush at Omu-Ijebu, where a Suzuki mini bus, commonly known as a "Korope," was being altered.

Details of the Incident

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Oluseyo Babaseyi, the police spokesperson, the incident occurred on Sunday, 19th April, around 4:00 PM. Information was received that three men and a woman were sighted in a bush along Ikhasi Road, Kajola via Omu, illegally repainting the Suzuki mini bus, which had no registration number. The vehicle was originally yellow but had been repainted in white and blue colors in an attempt to change its identity.

Upon receiving the intelligence, detectives swiftly mobilized to the scene. As the operatives approached, the suspects fled in different directions. However, Azeez Khadijat was arrested inside the abandoned vehicle. The mini bus was recovered and secured at the police station for safekeeping.

Recovered Items and Investigation Findings

A search of the scene yielded several items suspected to belong to the fleeing suspects, including three handsets, one power bank, one paint can, one sandpaper, and one Type-C charging cord. Preliminary investigations revealed that the mini bus was allegedly used to perpetrate criminal activities in Lagos State. The suspects repainted the vehicle to conceal its identity and evade detection by law enforcement.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects, and the case is under active investigation. It will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police for Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the swift response and professionalism of the operatives involved in the operation. He assured the public that all fleeing accomplices will be brought to justice, emphasizing the police's commitment to combating crime in the state.
