Ogun Police Apprehend Security Guard and Two Others in Stolen Lexus SUV Case
The Ogun State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in a vehicle theft case, arresting three individuals, including a private security guard, for their alleged involvement in the theft of a luxury SUV. The suspects, identified as Obada Ezekiel (27), Emmanuel Timothy (25), and Yaya Yakubu (27), were taken into custody on April 18, 2026, around 11:00 hours.
Swift Response to Distress Call Leads to Arrest
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the arrest followed a distress call received by operatives of the Ibafo Division regarding a stolen vehicle. Acting on credible intelligence, the police mobilized and tracked the suspects to a hideout within the Ibafo axis. There, they recovered a stolen ash-coloured Lexus RX 300 SUV, which was found in the possession of the trio.
Babaseyi detailed in a statement released in Abeokuta over the weekend that the security guard, Obada Ezekiel, was attached to the vehicle and conspired with the other two suspects to steal it from Lagos. The plan was to move the SUV to Ibafo for disposal, but their scheme was thwarted by the timely intervention of the police.
Investigation and Prosecution Underway
The police have indicated that the suspects will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for further investigation and prosecution. This move underscores the command's commitment to thorough legal processes in handling criminal cases.
Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni commended the operatives of the Ibafo Division for their swift response, professionalism, and effective utilization of intelligence, which were pivotal in the successful arrest and recovery of the stolen vehicle.
