The Ogun State Police Command has thwarted a planned kidnapping of a Chinese national and arrested two principal suspects linked to a ₦50 million ransom demand. The suspects, Chinedu Onwuemena, 41, and Jimoh Ojo, 37, were taken into custody following intelligence reports about an imminent abduction along the Ijebu-Ode/Odogbolu Expressway corridor.
Arrest Details
Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed the arrests occurred on June 9, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Obalende Division acted on credible intelligence, mobilizing operatives and surveillance teams to intercept the suspects before they could execute the crime.

“Efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend the fleeing suspect, while discreet investigations continue to unravel the full extent of the criminal network behind the conspiracy,” Babaseyi stated. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiry.
