The Oyo State Police Command has apprehended four individuals suspected of armed robbery and cultism during a coordinated raid on their hideout in the Soka area of Oluyole Local Government Area of Ibadan.

Details of the Operation

Police spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade confirmed the operation in a statement, noting that it was executed by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit. The raid was based on credible intelligence regarding a criminal syndicate allegedly responsible for terrorizing residents across parts of the Ibadan metropolis.

According to the statement, the operation occurred at approximately 6:00 a.m. on June 10, 2026, after intelligence reports indicated that the suspects were planning another criminal activity within the community.

Recovered Items and Suspects

During the raid, operatives recovered a locally made pistol from the suspects’ hideout. The arrested individuals were identified as Salawu Sarara (also known as Folori), Yusuf Tajudeen (also known as Blacky), Farouq Ariyo, and Adebayo Awosemo (also known as Naira).

Confessions and Investigations

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly confessed to being members of the Eiye Supremo Confraternity and admitted involvement in multiple violent crimes within Ibadan and surrounding areas.

The police stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang and dismantle the wider criminal network. Investigations are still in progress to establish the full extent of their activities.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to intelligence-driven policing and sustained operations aimed at reducing violent crime across Oyo State.
