Pastor Chris Okafor's Legal Team Issues Ultimatum to Doris Ogala, Verydarkman Over Allegations
Pastor Chris Okafor challenges critics to provide evidence to police

The legal representatives of popular Lagos cleric, Pastor Chris Okafor, have issued a stern challenge to actress Doris Ogala, social media critic Martins Vincent Otse (known as Verydarkman), and several online bloggers. They have been dared to present any concrete evidence supporting their allegations to the Nigeria Police Force or risk facing criminal prosecution themselves.

Legal Team Denounces "Malicious" Social Media Campaign

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday, Pastor Okafor's lead counsel, Ife Ajayi of Sovereignty LP, characterized the claims circulating online as false, malicious, and part of a coordinated campaign of cyberbullying, blackmail, and public incitement. Ajayi emphasized that the allegations, which regained traction in December 2025, were published without seeking the pastor's side of the story, constituting what he called "trial by social media."

"Our client is a private citizen and a law-abiding Nigerian. What has been happening is not responsible journalism but an attempt to destroy his reputation through trial by social media," Ajayi stated firmly.

Root of the Dispute and Breach of Settlement

Tracing the conflict's origin, Ajayi explained it began from a failed business arrangement in late 2024 involving Ogala and a third party, which Pastor Okafor withdrew from. He stated that Ogala later accused the pastor of owing her ₦45 million, a claim he labeled baseless. The narrative then allegedly evolved to include claims of a romantic relationship and more serious criminal conduct.

The lawyer revealed a significant prior legal episode: Ogala was previously arrested and charged for cyberstalking and related offenses connected to similar online actions. That case was reportedly resolved through an out-of-court settlement, adopted by the court, where Ogala received an agreed sum and pledged never to mention Pastor Okafor publicly again. Ajayi asserted that the recent online attacks constitute a clear breach of that legally binding agreement.

Police Involvement and Direct Challenge to Accusers

Ajayi disclosed that fresh complaints have been filed with the Nigeria Police concerning public incitement, blackmail, and cyber harassment. He confirmed that Ogala was arrested again before Christmas 2025 and questioned in Lagos. During interrogation, she reportedly denied making some of the graver allegations attributed to her online, such as murder and forced marriage. She was granted administrative bail on medical grounds and warned by police to stop making unsubstantiated claims.

In a direct and public challenge, Ajayi called on Ogala, Verydarkman, and others to submit their claims, witnesses, and evidence to the police. He warned that failure to do so could lead to their prosecution for spreading false information.

"If they believe these allegations are true, let them swear to them under oath and present proof to law enforcement. Otherwise, we will pursue all available legal remedies," Ajayi warned. He added that Pastor Okafor and his family have received threatening messages as a result of the online campaign.

The legal team is now monitoring several social media accounts suspected of coordinating the alleged smear campaign and has filed formal criminal complaints against individuals spreading the claims.
