Pastor and Islamic Cleric Arrested in Ibadan for Alleged Human Parts Purchase
Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have apprehended three individuals involved in the unlawful possession and sale of suspected human parts in Ibadan. The arrests include a 55-year-old pastor and a 46-year-old Islamic cleric, who are accused of buying the illicit materials from an intermediary.
Police Intercept Suspected Human Parts During Routine Operation
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, the initial suspect, Oyategbe Joseph, was arrested during a stop-and-search operation along the Adekile area of Agugu. A police patrol team intercepted an unregistered Bajaj Boxer motorcycle and recovered a package containing flesh suspected to be human intestine.
The suspect confessed that he obtained the suspected human parts from an unknown individual at the Oritaperin area and admitted to selling them to the two religious leaders. This disclosure was made in a statement issued on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, via the Oyo State Police Command X handle.
Swift Police Action Leads to Additional Arrests
Acting promptly on this intelligence, the Command swiftly apprehended Alfa Onaolapo Taiwo, aged 46, and Pastor Ayodele Taiwo, aged 55. Both suspects were brought to the station for interrogation, where they confessed to purchasing the suspected human parts from Oyategbe Joseph.
The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation. All suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
