According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, on March 24, 2026, the arrests were the result of a proactive policing operation. A patrol team intercepted an unregistered Bajaj Boxer motorcycle during a routine stop-and-search operation in the Adekile area of Agugu, Ibadan.

Upon searching the pillion, the rider was apprehended, and a package containing flesh suspected to be human intestines was recovered. The suspect, identified as Oyategbe Joseph, a male resident of Ibadan, was immediately taken into custody for interrogation.

Confessions and Further Arrests

During questioning, Oyategbe Joseph confessed that he had obtained the suspected human parts from an unknown individual in the Oritaperin area. He further admitted to selling these items to two other individuals: Alfa Onaolapo Taiwo, a 46-year-old male Islamic cleric, and Pastor Ayodele Taiwo, a 55-year-old male pastor.

Acting swiftly on this intelligence, the police tracked down and arrested both Alfa Onaolapo Taiwo and Pastor Ayodele Taiwo. Upon interrogation, the duo confessed to purchasing the suspected human parts from Oyategbe Joseph, confirming the initial suspect's claims.

The Commissioner of Police for Oyo State Command has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a discreet and thorough investigation.
