Pastor Chris Okafor, the founder of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, has finally submitted himself to the Lagos State Police Command for questioning. This comes after he initially failed to honour a lawful invitation earlier in the week.
Defiance Turns to Compliance After Warnings
The pastor reported at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba, on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. His appearance followed a period of defiance where he ignored a police letter dated January 3, which directed him to present himself for interrogation by 10 a.m. on Monday, January 5.
Sources indicate that Okafor's initial refusal was linked to an ongoing case he initiated against actress Doris Ogalla at the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 2 Command in Onikan. He reportedly believed that investigation superseded others. However, after news broke of his snub, highly placed individuals cautioned him about the serious implications of disobeying a police invitation, prompting his sudden cooperation.
Case Stands Down as Zone 2 Probe Continues
A senior police officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, provided details of the questioning. The pastor's statement was taken, but he was not detained because no formal complainant has yet come forward to the Lagos Command. The police revealed they had reached out to the alleged victims, offering protection and transportation, but none appeared.
"Since there is already an investigation ongoing at Zone 2, where there is a suspect and a complainant, the Lagos Police Command will stand down to allow Zone 2 to conclude their investigation," the officer stated. He emphasized that the case is not dismissed and the offer for victims to come forward remains open.
A Web of Serious Allegations
The Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, had ordered a probe into the matter after numerous grave allegations surfaced online. Okafor faces accusations from multiple women, including his daughter, former lovers, and church members. The allegations span sexual impropriety, abuse of authority, and even alleged murder.
The scandal erupted publicly weeks ago when actress Doris Ogalla, with whom Okafor had a relationship, accused him of reneging on a marriage promise. She supported her claims with audio-visual evidence, sparking widespread public outrage and calls for a criminal investigation.
Following the uproar, Okafor, who recently married a new bride named Pearl on December 16, initially dismissed the allegations as enemy work. He later admitted to some and issued a public apology to his congregation before stepping aside as senior pastor.
Police spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi confirmed Okafor's presence at the SCID but declined to give further details, as the procedural baton has been passed to the zonal command overseeing the initial complaint.
