Gunmen have killed one man and injured another in a fresh attack in Plateau State. The incident occurred at Sabon Gidan Kanar in the Gyon El District of Jos South Local Government Area.
Victims identified
The deceased has been identified as Shedrack Dalyop, 36, while Mang Davou, 32, sustained injuries. The ambush took place on June 6, 2026.
Rwang Tengwong, National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), disclosed this in a statement on Monday, June 8. He noted that the attack came just days after a similar incident in the same area claimed one life and left another person hospitalised.
Growing insecurity
According to Tengwong, these incidents underscore the growing insecurity confronting residents of the community. The BYM has called on Operation Enduring Peace (OPED) and other security agencies to immediately investigate the attack, arrest the perpetrators, and ensure they are brought to justice.
The statement read: “The Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), under the leadership of Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, strongly condemns the ambush of Mr. Shedrack Dalyop, 36, of Kuru District, and Mr. Mang Davou, 32, of Gyel District, at Sabon Gidan Kanar in Gyon el District of Jos South Local Government Area.
“The attack resulted in the death of Mr. Shedrack Dalyop, while Mr. Mang Davou sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.
“This incident occurred barely days after a similar attack in the same area that claimed one life and left another person hospitalised, underscoring the growing insecurity confronting residents of the community.”
Call for calm
While condoling with the family of the late Shedrack Dalyop and praying for the speedy recovery of Mr. Mang Davou, the BYM urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding. The association called on security agencies to take decisive action to address the worsening security situation in the area.
The BYM warned that it could not continue to keep quiet while innocent citizens are targeted and killed.
