The Delta State Police Command has achieved another major victory in its ongoing crackdown on illicit drug trafficking and substance abuse, apprehending a suspected drug baron and two female accomplices in Warri metropolis. The command's spokesman, Bright Edafe, confirmed the development, stating that the operation is part of intensified efforts to combat hard drug circulation and abuse across the state.
Arrest of Suspects
According to Edafe, the suspects identified as Favor Isaac, 25; Favour Felix, 24; and Samson Precious, 19, were arrested following credible intelligence on the activities of suspected drug peddlers in the Ogbomoro and Ugolo communities. Operatives from the Area Command, Effurun, conducted a covert operation on May 7, 2026, at approximately 9:20 p.m., leading to the arrests.
Seizure of Illicit Substances
During the operation, police executed a search warrant at the suspects' hideout along River Road in Ogbomoro community. Recovered items included 21 bottles of CSC Codeine, two canisters of Nitrous Oxide (commonly known as laughing gas), two packs of suspected psychoactive chewing gum branded as Highness Gum, and 640 grams of substances believed to be Canadian Loud, concealed in various bags and containers.
Ongoing Investigation
Preliminary investigations revealed that one Rukewe Tega Isaac, currently at large, is believed to be the main supplier behind the drug network. The police have intensified efforts to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspect and other syndicate members linked to the illicit drug operation.
Police Commissioner's Statement
Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Yemi Oyeniyi, reiterated the command's commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against drug trafficking and related criminal activities. He warned that the widespread abuse and circulation of illicit drugs continue to fuel violent crimes, cultism, and other social vices among youths. The commissioner appealed to residents to support the police and other security agencies with timely and credible information to aid the fight against criminal networks and substance abuse.
