Police Apprehend Five Suspected Armed Robbers in Ibadan, Recover Exhibits
The Oyo State Police Command has successfully arrested five individuals suspected of involvement in armed robbery operations across the state. This development was officially confirmed by the command's Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, through a detailed statement released on Wednesday, March 11.
Details of the Arrests and Suspects
The apprehended suspects have been identified as Abiodun Michael, Olaoluwa Pamole, and Ahmed Ismail. According to Ayanlade, these individuals are believed to be connected to a series of robberies that have been troubling residents in the region. The arrests followed intensive investigations and surveillance operations conducted by the police force.
Recovered Exhibits from the Suspects
During a thorough search of the suspects, law enforcement officers recovered a significant cache of items, including:
- One Magnum Pump Action gun loaded with six live cartridges
- Multiple mobile phones: iPhone 17, iPhone 15, iPhone 13, iPhone 8, iPhone XR, iPhone 16 Blue, iPhone 14 Pro Max, Tecno Camon, Tecno CKG, Tecno Spark 20, Tecno CM6, and five units of Redmi phones in black
- One Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphone
- One Wi-Fi device
- One power bank
- One Oraimo radio
- Four wristwatches
- A cash sum of ₦130,000
These exhibits are believed to have been stolen during various criminal activities and are now in police custody as evidence for ongoing legal proceedings.
Additional Arrests for Motorcycle Theft
In a related operation, the police also arrested two other suspects in connection with the theft of a motorcycle in the Ido local government area. The individuals, identified as Sanusi Audu and Amisu Sani, were taken into custody following reports of the stolen vehicle.
During preliminary interrogations, the suspects confessed to stealing the motorcycle from Lapade village via Ile-Ido, Ibadan. They admitted to taking the vehicle while it was parked, highlighting the brazen nature of the crime.
