Swift Police Response to Distress Call

According to a statement released by the command's spokesperson, DSP Jimoh Kazeem, on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the arrest followed a distress call received by authorities on December 14, 2025. The call alerted the police to a violent attack unfolding at Shine Villa on Opomulero Street in Owo.

DSP Kazeem detailed that the information indicated suspected cult members had forcefully entered the premises and attacked 25-year-old Ayodele Peter. This prompted an immediate and coordinated tactical response from police operatives, supported by intelligence-led policing strategies.

Victim Succumbs, Manhunt Launched

The victim was quickly rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Owo for urgent medical attention. Tragically, he was later confirmed dead by medical personnel at the facility.

In response to the killing, the police immediately launched a coordinated manhunt to track down the perpetrators. This operation led to the arrest of one suspect directly linked to the incident.

Investigation Ongoing, Public Cooperation Sought

The suspect has made useful statements and is presently in custody, DSP Kazeem stated. He added that concerted efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects who remain at large.
