The Lagos State Police Command has categorically denied reports suggesting that Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Khan Salihu was kidnapped prior to his death, labeling such claims as false, misleading, and baseless.
Official Response
In an official statement released on Tuesday, the Command clarified that the senior officer was never abducted or involved in any kidnapping incident. According to the police, DCP Salihu complained of feeling unwell and was immediately taken to a hospital, where medical personnel confirmed his death.
Condemnation of Misinformation
The Command expressed deep concern over the circulation of what it described as an unverified and irresponsible publication. It emphasized that such misinformation has caused unnecessary distress to the family, colleagues, and the general public. The police stressed that the officer's death was purely medical and unrelated to any criminal activity.
Appeal for Responsible Reporting
The Lagos State Police Command urged media organizations to verify sensitive information before publishing and called on the public to disregard the false report. It reaffirmed its commitment to providing accurate and timely updates through official channels.
