Pastor Chris Okafor Snubs Police Invite, SCID Now Questions Alleged Victims
Police Probe Okafor's Victims After Pastor Snubs SCID Invite

Lagos State police have pivoted their investigation into controversial bedroom allegations against Pastor Chris Okafor, turning their attention to the alleged victims after the cleric failed to appear for a scheduled interrogation.

Pastor's No-Show at SCID Headquarters

The Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries was formally invited to appear before the deputy commissioner of police at the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti by 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026. The invitation followed a directive from the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, who ordered a thorough probe into multiple allegations considered capable of causing a breach of public peace.

However, police sources confirmed that as of 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Pastor Okafor had not honoured the invitation. A senior officer, speaking anonymously, stated that detectives were still expecting him, noting that police operations continue around the clock. "We have not seen him yet, but we are still waiting because the police work 24 hours daily. So, for now, we cannot say he dared the police," the officer told The Nation.

Police Shift Strategy, Call in Alleged Victims

Following the pastor's absence, investigators have now asked individuals who have made allegations against him to report to the SCID to assist with the ongoing inquiry. The police have assured these individuals that their identities will be treated with strict confidentiality.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the force received several complaints bordering on alleged sexual offences, which prompted the formal invitation extended to Pastor Okafor.

Origins of the Controversy and Wider Fallout

The scandal erupted in mid-December 2025 when multiple allegations surfaced on social media. Nollywood actress Doris Ogala was at the forefront, alleging in a series of Instagram videos that she had a long-term sexual relationship with the cleric starting in 2017. She accused him of making unfulfilled promises of marriage, sharing explicit material, and contributing to the collapse of her previous marriage.

The allegations have triggered significant reactions within religious and public circles. Reports indicate that the Pentagon Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) may consider disciplinary action. Furthermore, Pastor Okafor has reportedly stepped aside from his pastoral duties pending the outcome of the investigations. Addressing his congregation, he cited a need for rest and a honeymoon with his new wife, stating they would be away for prayer until February.

Public reaction on social media has been mixed but intense. Many users are calling for his arrest for failing to honour the police invitation, while others caution that the alleged victims must provide formal statements and evidence to the police for the case to proceed beyond social media accusations. Comments range from demands for swift justice to scepticism about the potential for the case to be settled out of court.
