Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, in collaboration with local vigilantes, have rescued five kidnapped victims in the Bwari Area Council of Abuja. The rescue operation, which occurred on Tuesday, also resulted in the neutralization of two kidnappers.
Details of the Operation
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday. According to her, the success was achieved following a distress call received by the police at about 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
The kidnappers had abducted the victims from their homes in the Kubwa area of Abuja and taken them to a forest in Bwari. The police, in conjunction with local vigilantes, stormed the kidnappers' hideout, leading to a fierce gun battle.
Rescue and Casualties
During the exchange of fire, two of the kidnappers were fatally wounded, while the others escaped with bullet injuries. The five victims were rescued unhurt and have since been reunited with their families.
SP Adeh stated that the command is intensifying efforts to track down the fleeing suspects. She also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

The FCT Police Commissioner, CP Haruna Garba, commended the joint team for their bravery and professionalism. He reiterated the command's commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in the territory.
This operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping and other criminal activities in the FCT. The police have called for continued collaboration with community members to enhance security.
