Former Chelsea and Manchester City star Raheem Sterling has been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after crashing his Lamborghini on the M3 motorway in Hampshire, according to police reports.
Incident Details
Police received reports at around 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, that a Lamborghini had collided with motorway barriers near the Minley Interchange on the southbound carriageway. Officers attended the scene and arrested the driver, identified as Sterling.
A source confirmed: “Sterling, currently at Dutch side Feyenoord, was bailed pending enquiries. The former Premier League star was arrested after crashing his Lamborghini into motorway barriers. The ex-England, Liverpool, and Manchester City winger had been travelling on the M3 on Thursday morning when the collision occurred.”
Police Statement
Police stated: “Just before 9 a.m. on Thursday, we received reports that a Lamborghini was in collision with barriers on the M3 southbound, close to the Minley Interchange. No other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported.”
“The driver, a 31-year-old man, from Berkshire, has been arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, driving dangerously, possession of a Class C drug and failing to provide a specimen. He has been bailed while our enquiries continue.”
Background on Sterling
Sterling, who came through the ranks after being signed by Liverpool from QPR’s academy in 2010, became a key player at Manchester City after his 2015 move, winning multiple domestic honours. He later had spells at Chelsea and Arsenal before joining Feyenoord as a free agent in February. He has earned 82 caps for England, scoring 20 goals, and is engaged to Paige Milian, with whom he has two children.
