Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman is accused of family violence in Georgia after allegedly smashing the windows of his baby mama's car while their 3-month-old child was inside, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
Alleged Incident Details
The alleged incident occurred around 6 a.m. on June 3, according to the alleged victim's account to police. Authorities claim Bateman used an object to break the windshield and driver's side window of the woman's 2021 Mercedes-Benz.
According to an arrest warrant, shattered glass caused multiple small lacerations to the alleged victim's face. The responding officer said they observed glass on her face as well as multiple contusions. Court documents state that the couple's 3-month-old child was seated in a car seat in the back row of the vehicle at the time.
Legal Proceedings and No-Contact Order
Bateman's attorneys said the Ravens receiver surrendered to the Walton County Sheriff's Office the same day. Several weeks later, Bateman asked the court to remove a no-contact order, arguing that the alleged victim had indicated she wanted to communicate with him.
The court granted the request but continued to prohibit Bateman from having violent contact with the woman. A judge also ordered that Bateman may see the alleged victim after completing a class.
Reactions from Legal and Team Representatives
Bateman's attorney, Jordan Siev of Reed Smith, told TMZ, "It is unfortunate that a personal family situation has been taken completely out of context for sensational reasons. We will let the court process play out and the facts will come out at that time."
A spokesperson for the Baltimore Ravens told TMZ, "We are aware of the situation involving Rashod and have been in direct communication with him. We notified the league office and have been cooperating throughout the process. As this is a pending legal matter, we will not have further comment."
Case Status
The case remains ongoing. The allegations have not been proven in court.
