A 68-year-old man who frequently portrayed Santa Claus at community events in Florida has been arrested on charges related to child sexual abuse. Thomas Allen Hicks was taken into custody following an undercover police operation in Polk County.

According to authorities, detectives from the Polk County Sheriff's Office posed online as a parent offering a teenage girl for paid sex. Hicks allegedly responded to the advertisement and continued communicating even after being informed that the girl was 13 years old. Over a series of messages, the suspect discussed arrangements and reportedly agreed to pay $200 for the encounter.

Police stated that Hicks traveled to a predetermined meeting location in Lakeland, where deputies arrested him. At the time of arrest, authorities reported that he had cash in his possession.
